Project overview

The project focuses on building advanced optimization and analytics solutions to support cargo and network planning processes. The work involves translating real operational constraints into mathematical models and production ready systems used by planning and operations teams.

Team

You will work in a cross functional team that includes data scientists, software engineers, product specialists, and operations experts. The team collaborates closely using Agile practices, with regular interaction between technical and business stakeholders to validate assumptions and outcomes.

Position overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a strong focus on optimization to design and implement decision support solutions for complex cargo and network planning problems. You will combine optimization modeling, data analysis, and software engineering practices to build scalable and reliable systems that support operational decision making in a data driven environment.

Technology stack

Python, SQL, mixed integer programming, constraint programming CP SAT, optimization solvers, data pipelines, experiment tracking, logging frameworks, visualization libraries, cloud data platforms

Responsibilities

Analyze cargo and network planning problems using data analysis and optimization techniques
Design and implement optimization models using mixed integer programming and constraint programming
Translate operational rules and constraints into validated mathematical formulations
Solve scheduling and routing problems with time windows, capacity limits, and operational constraints
Apply heuristics and scaling techniques such as warm starts and decomposition for large scale problems
Perform exploratory data analysis to ensure data quality, consistency, and correct integration
Design experiments with clear hypotheses and reproducible results
Develop robust Python solutions with modular structure and automated tests
Build reproducible pipelines with logging, traceability, and version control
Create visualizations to support operational understanding such as schedules and infeasibility diagnostics
Collaborate with operations, product, and engineering teams to refine models and solutions
Communicate model behavior, trade offs, and limitations to technical and business stakeholders

Requirements

At least five years of experience in data science, optimization, or operations research
Hands on experience with mixed integer programming and or constraint programming CP SAT
Experience solving scheduling, routing, or network optimization problems
Strong Python skills with good software engineering practices including testing and modular design
Strong data analysis skills including exploratory data analysis and data validation
Experience building reproducible analytical or optimization pipelines
Strong SQL skills and experience integrating multiple data sources
Experience scaling optimization models using heuristics or decomposition approaches
Experience working in Agile delivery environments
Strong communication skills for working with technical and non technical stakeholders
Fluency in Spanish and intermediate working proficiency in English

Nice to have

Experience in cargo, airline, logistics, or transportation domains
Familiarity with fleet, maintenance, hub, or capacity planning constraints
Experience with cloud based data platforms such as BigQuery or Dataflow
Background in combinatorial optimization
