Position overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst with a strong background in Fixed Income Asset Management to join our growing team. This individual will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders (portfolio managers, analysts, quants) and the technology team, ensuring that requirements are understood and met to support business objectives.

Candidates from Europe, Ukraine, and Asia must be able to cover at least 5-6 business hours within the EST timezone.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal/external stakeholders to analyze and define business and functional requirements to build fixed-income data products (fixed-income experience is a plus)
  • Communicate effectively to conduct walkthroughs with the development team, QA, and stakeholders, and write requirements
  • Take full responsibility and ownership of product features to ensure the development team and QA understand business deliverables and acceptance criteria, review test cases/scenarios, and perform UAT as needed
  • Strong SQL skills are required to conduct data analysis, including diving into code (Stored Procs, Java) to understand and extrapolate business logic and document data flows based on data analysis
  • Assist PO by providing input into backlog refinement and sprint planning, and help refine and validate user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Proactively raise obstacles and call out issues that may impact sprint delivery

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Business Analysis at a buy-side Fixed Income firm, Investment management or asset management
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing data from relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
  • Ability to read Python code
  • Demonstrated experience with various SDLC and application development and release control methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience in various Fixed Income instruments is required (e.g., U.S. Treasuries, Investment Grade, High Yield, EMD, Mortgages, Sovereign Debt / Government Bonds, Corporate Bonds, OTCD, and Repos)
  • Working knowledge of data governance and the ability to ensure high data quality is maintained throughout the data lifecycle of a project
  • Reporting tools and understanding relational database models.
  • Strong relationship management capabilities and confidence in engaging directly with business partners and technical resources
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis on system, process, or production problems, and the ability to provide viable solutions
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and work effectively under pressure; exceptional organizational and administrative skills; at ease with an abundance of details, yet mindful of a big picture at all times

  • Experience with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Ability to create, maintain and breakdown User Stories, Tasks and Epics in Jira
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or a related field.
