Project overview

This project is centered within the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE). The primary objective is to advance the organization's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) strategy by building scalable landing zones, automating deployments, and maintaining a high-performance CI/CD ecosystem. A significant focus of the project involves ensuring all infrastructure remains compliant with PCI DSS requirements while optimizing cloud expenditure.

Position overview

The candidate should be ready for a full coverage of EST working hours.
As a Cloud Infrastructure & CI/CD Pipeline Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert in GCP and GitLab CI/CD. Your role bridges the gap between architectural design and operational execution. You will be responsible for designing automated pipelines, managing shared GitLab runners, and enforcing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) best practices to ensure a secure, cost-effective, and reliable cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Ecosystem Management: Design and maintain optimized GitLab CI/CD pipeline templates and reusable modules specifically for GCP; manage and scale a cluster of mutualized GitLab runners using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Infrastructure & Landing Zone Governance: Maintain the GCP landing zone; automate resource provisioning via Terraform; and manage VM "golden images" using Packer.
  • Automation & Tooling: Develop Python and Bash scripts utilizing the gcloud CLI to streamline management tasks and provide self-service capabilities for development teams.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement security guardrails and automated scanning via GCP Security Command Center to ensure strict adherence to PCI DSS requirements.
  • FinOps & Monitoring: Utilize native GCP Cost Management tools to identify right-sizing opportunities and manage Committed Use Discounts (CUDs); implement centralized logging and alerting via Cloud Logging/Monitoring.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Provide technical support and training to internal teams on GCP best practices, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in DevOps, Cloud, or CI/CD Engineering with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Extensive experience with GitLab CI/CD, Terraform (IaC), and Ansible (Configuration Management).
  • Proven track record in managing GCP landing zones and containerization technologies (Docker, GKE).
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash, specifically for gcloud CLI automation.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security best practices and PCI DSS compliance standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

  • Google Cloud Professional (Architect or Security Engineer) or GitLab Certified Professional (CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience with GCP Security Command Center.
  • Contributions to open-source projects related to GCP or cloud automation.
  • Familiarity with alternative CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI.
