Project overview

The platform is designed to be operationally resilient while enabling advanced analytics and AI driven use cases. AI adoption is a core principle of the project, both in the platform itself and in day to day delivery practices.

Team

You will work as part of a distributed delivery team that includes data engineers, analytics specialists, product owners, and technical leads. The team collaborates closely through design reviews, shared standards, and regular interaction with business stakeholders. The role involves direct engagement with client representatives and coordination across time zones.

Position overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to lead data architecture activities on a large scale hospitality data platform. You will design and evolve a data foundation that supports high volume transactional systems and advanced analytics, with a strong emphasis on enabling AI and machine learning use cases. This role combines hands on architectural ownership with close collaboration across engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders in a distributed delivery setup.

Technology stack

Cloud platforms AWS, GCP, Azure, data lakes and lakehouse architectures, Spark, dbt, Airflow, SQL, streaming platforms such as Kafka or equivalent, REST APIs, CDC tools, vector databases, feature stores, data catalogs, data quality frameworks, CI CD tooling, AI assisted development tools

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the end to end enterprise data architecture for the hospitality data platform
  • Define data models, storage strategies, integration patterns, and platform topology aligned with operational and analytical needs
  • Architect and oversee data lake and lakehouse implementations including zone structures, retention policies, partitioning strategies, and access patterns
  • Design and govern end to end data pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, and delivery across batch, micro batch, and streaming use cases
  • Define integration architectures across internal systems and third party hospitality platforms using ETL, ELT, streaming, CDC, and API based approaches
  • Design data infrastructure that enables AI and machine learning workloads including feature stores, training datasets, inference pipelines, and feedback loops
  • Actively use AI tools in daily work for architecture design, documentation, code generation, testing, and pipeline development
  • Promote AI adoption across the data engineering team and embed AI driven accelerators into delivery processes
  • Define and enforce data governance standards including lineage, cataloging, access control, data quality, and PII handling
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud platform services across AWS, GCP, and Azure based on client constraints and maturity
  • Participate in architectural reviews, technical workshops, and stakeholder presentations
  • Communicate architectural decisions, progress, and risks clearly to technical and non technical audiences in English and Spanish
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to data engineers on the project

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture roles, including time in a senior or lead capacity
  • Hands on experience designing and operating production data lake or lakehouse architectures
  • Strong experience building and governing production grade data pipelines across batch, micro batch, and streaming patterns
  • Experience designing enterprise scale data integration architectures across heterogeneous systems
  • Hands on experience with at least two major cloud platforms among AWS, GCP, and Azure
  • Strong proficiency in data modeling and architectural validation techniques
  • Working knowledge of dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or normalized relational modeling
  • Experience with data governance practices including cataloging, lineage, access control, and data quality frameworks
  • Demonstrated active use of AI tools in daily delivery such as LLM based coding assistants and AI driven documentation
  • A strong AI oriented mindset with ongoing engagement in modern AI tooling and practices
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish, written and verbal
  • Availability for occasional travel to Cancun, Mexico for on site collaboration

Nice to have

  • Experience in travel, hospitality, or lodging data environments such as PMS, GDS, OTA integrations, booking engines, or loyalty platforms
  • Experience designing data architectures for AI and machine learning use cases including feature engineering pipelines, vector databases, or RAG systems
  • Familiarity with MLOps or LLMOps practices
  • Experience with real time or event driven data architectures
  • Exposure to data mesh or federated data ownership models
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations relevant to Latin American markets
